Costa Blanca has so much to offer no matter what your looking for you will find it here. As you can see below we have listed just a small selection of our favourite local attractions that we feel are a must to visit, these attractions are suitable for all visitors, families or individuals, most of these attractions are open all year round as the sun is out most days here well at least 320 days of the year. Car Hire is Recommended to make the best of your stay. People of Costa Blanca are very friendly, welcoming and will ensure your visit is a happy memorable one..

 
 

DOLORES, Costa Blanca, SPAIN

Dolores is a beautiful town located in the Vega Baja region of Alicante. It's just 4km from Almoradi and Catral. Its excellent location gives easy access to various main towns including Torrevieja, Murcia, Alicante, Cartagena and Elche.

Dolores is just 10kms from the nearest Blue Flag beaches of La Marina and Guardamar, which has pine trees making the backdrop for the long stretch of sand and the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean. The average temperatures in this area are between 61 degrees between December – January and 85 degrees in July – August.

Dolores is just 4 metres above sea level, where its fertile land has much fruit and produce for exportation and local market sales. The typical cuisine of Dolores takes advantage of the fresh vegetables in the area (artichokes, beans, broccoli), and also includes an abundance of meat and seafood. The most typical dish is "cocido con pelotas" which includes meatballs and potato and chickpea stew. There are also many fresh fruits such as melons, watermelons, oranges, apricots, etc. An open-air market is held every Friday morning where the local produce is sold.

Dolores was founded in 1715 by the Bishop of Cartagena. He was given approximately 40,000m2 of land by the Town Halls of Guardamar and Orihuela to start a town. In 1737 the first stone of the church was laid. In 1795 there were 656 residents, now the population is close to 11,000 residents of lots of nationalities.

In November 2005 the Municipal government of Dolores approved the development of a 145 acre golf course. This development is expected to be completed over the next couple of years.

 

Guardamar

In Guardamar you can enjoy water sports at their best: windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, water skiing, and more. But the options certainly don't end here. At the local municipal sports complex, you'll find an indoor football field, tennis courts, swimming pools, basketball and handball which is only 10 minutes drive from Pondo Rosa.

 

Go Karting

There is also other Go Karting venues at Punta Prima and Orihuela Costa.

 

Go karting

Go-Karting on the N332 Orihuela Costa. Approx 10 mins walk from La Cinuelica or 5 mins drive. Enjoy speed? Then don't miss out on going to the Go-kart track situated on the N332 Orihuela Costa. Great fun for the kids and kids at heart. Karts for the whole family; juniors, adults and the Hondas for those of you that want even more speed.

 

Terra Mitica Theme Park

Terra Mitica theme park is in the town of Benidorm, Alicante province and offers a magical journey through the cultures of the mediterranean.

It is divided into five areas inspired in the five civilisations of the mediterranean, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. Stroll through the port of Alexandria at the time of Cleopatra or attend the games in Olympia..... These are just some of the options available at the themed areas, not to mention spectacular attractions such as "The Rescue of Ulysses" and the "Magnus Colossus" giant roller coaster. There are also some 300 actors and specialist staff who entertain visitors with more then 25 shows. In the park you will find a ample array of Cafes, Bars and restaurants offering all kinds of food.

 

Aqualandia Water Park

Aqualandia is reputedly Europes largest water park standing behind the northern end of Playa Lavante right next to Mundomar. It is a must for fans of water slides who will easily be able to spend a full day there.

Theres a great range of attractions within the park such as the huge Atlantic wave pool, the spring boards of Laguna, the beach and caves of Niagara and the adventure land which has been developed especially for young children.

 

Torrevieja - Fun Fair

Situated next to the Port car park. Open during the summer season. Great for the kids and kids at heart.

 

Caves del Canelobre

Located near Busot the Caves of Canelobre, located 24km from Alicante.

 

Algar Falls

Located near Altea, about 1 hour 30 mins drive from Torrevieja/Orihuela Costa you will find the Algar Falls, which are beautiful natural waterfalls.

The Fonts D'Algar (Algar Falls) has a restaurant, barbecue and picnic facilities. There is an environmental museum and a horticultural nursery, where a duct system uses the natural springs waters to irrigate the plants and trees.

 

Guadalest

The mountain village of Guadalest has the population of just over 200 but through the year they get over 2.000.000 visitors from around the world. To get there you drive by Terra Mitica amusement park, take the exit to Benidorm and continue to the mountains. The road to Guadalest has asphalt but twists and turns up the mountain side. To drive up there is a memorable experience. In the village you can visit an old Moorish Fortress from the 7. Century, built on a rock, 900 meters above sea level. In addition you can visit two interesting museums: The Belen Museum of Micro-miniatures and the Museum of Torture.

 

Nations Park, Torrevieja

Located off of the N332 in Torrevieja. Lovely gardens, trees, water features and children's play area. Excellent area for sitting and relaxing. Water features, pathways, children's play area, lawned areas, trees

 

Elche

Drive inland to Elche (21 km from Guardamar) and stroll through Europe's largest Palm Forest. It's a delight to lose yourself amongst the subtropical gardens of the Huerto del Cura.

 

Cinemas

There are some cinemas on the Costa Blanca and the surrounding area that show English-language films with Spanish subtitles. These films are listed as VO (versión original), VOS (versión original subtitulada) or lingua originale films. When looking for films screened in English, look for "VO" or "VOS" beside the listing.

Note: VO films are not always in English. Some cinemas advertising VO films show the film in Spanish but transmit the original version language soundtrack via headphones. Viewers can rent the headsets to listen to the soundtrack; they are available (with a refundable deposit) from the cinema front desk.

 

Ten Pin Bowling

Large ten pin bowling alley situated in the Ozone Complex - next to Las Habaneras shopping centre. Also in the complex you have a Casino, and eating places.

 

Horse Riding

There are a number of good horse riding facilities in the Guardamar and Torrevieja area, all offering full tuition for the beginners to the more intermediate riders with indoor and outdoor arenas.

 

Vergel Safari Park

Just beyond the town of Ondara on the Northern shoulder of the Costa Blanca, lays the infamous Vergel Safari Park. The park features lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, zebras, a series of primates, and Iberian wolves roaming free in wide open natural terrain.

Although the majority of the park is a strictly stay in your car zone, there is also a safer area where you can walk free amongst some of the less dangerous animals such as pigs, ponies and other domestic breeds. There is also a seal and dolphin area, where shows are put on several times per day.

Additionally there are go carts, mini trains, and childrens play areas, making this a great day out for all the family.

The park should be little more than an hours drive from Alicante on the main A7 toll road (motorway). Alternatively you could take the N-332 coastal road towards Valencia, turning off at Pego on the C-311 just after Ondara.

The park is open during the summer months, from 10am-7pm, and winter months from 10am-5pm.

 

Aitana Safari Park

Located high in the Aitana mountain range, near the village of Sella, and approximately 33km inland from Benidorm lays the acclaimed Aitana Safari Park. Following a set trail there are many animals to see, including lions, tigers, elephants, buffalo, zebra, and giraffe.

There is also a childrens zoo for the little ones to enjoy, and the Daktari Park which is a nursery used to raise the youngest animals. Other facilities include a picnic area, and restaurant specialising in local foods.

The park can be reached within an hours drive from Alicante. Take the A7 toll road or the N-332 coastal road to Villajoyosa, and then head towards La Sella, passing through Orxeta. The park is approximately 15 km after La Sella near the town of Penaguila.

The Aitana Safari Park opens at 11am daily throughout the year.

 

Rio Safari Elche

A great day out can be had at the Rio Safari Elche, which features many different types of animals, including lions, tigers, primates, many crocodiles, exotic birds and dolphins. Other attractions include swimming pools and water slides. There is a dolphin display put on daily.

The park is located 4kms from Santa Pola on the Elche-Santa Pola road (CV-865).
